Astigmatism and Cataract! Is it possible to solve both problems at once?

Astigmatism and Cataract! Is it possible to solve both problems at once?

People with refractive visual problems, bound to use different methods of correction – eyeglasses or contact lenses – know about some routine inconveniences, related to their condition.

Eyeglasses often get lost or broken, and may even limit the range of some activities.

Some patients selected correction of vision impairment using contact toric lenses. However, unfortunately, not everybody tolerates a foreign body in his eye. Due to environment pollution and constant contact with chemical substances there is a wide-spread problem of allergic reactions to contact lenses and solutions for their care. Besides, many elderly patients have difficulties putting their lenses in and taking them out.

There are several surgical solutions to astigmatism treatment. For instance, a patient may choose laser correction of vision using LASIK technology, astigmatic keratotomy or limbal relaxation incisions.

There is a novel surgical technology, which allows getting rid of such an unpleasant vision impairment as astigmatism: implantation of an artificial toric intraocular lens into the eye instead of a cloudy natural lens (in case of cataract) or substitution of a transparent lens in case of severe near-sightedness or far-sightedness, aggravated by astigmatic component.

Your ophthalmologist will help you make correct choice in each specific case.

ÀñãóSof®Òîriñ lenses are the best current alternative to the correction of vision for far distances with astigmatism in the market of Ukraine.

Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure, during which a surgeon removes a cloudy or transparent natural lens and implants a transparent artificial lens with specific optic characteristics instead. Usually the surgeon implants an artificial monofocal lens, called intraocular lens (IOL). However, if a patient has astigmatism, the remaining additional optic defects may not allow restoring the visual quality even after the surgery, as a usual IOL does not allow to get rid of retinal astigmatism. To have good distance vision a patient has to use eyeglasses or contact lenses in addition.

Now there is a splendid possibility to get rid of distance eyeglasses substituting the natural lens with the artificial one. A unique intraocular lens ÀñãóSof®Òîriñ ensures considerable improvement of distance vision and decreases the necessity of wearing correction eyeglasses and contact lenses.
